Parajuru

 

Parajuru is a typical small village in the northeast of Brazil, 120 km afar from Fortaleza. It counts approx.. 6000 inhabitants with about 2300 children.

The Northeast is the poorest region of Brazil. It covers 18% of the surface of the country and consists of the States of Bahia, Sergipe, Alagoas, Pernambuco, Paraíba, Rio Grande DO Norte, Ceará, Piauí and Maranhão. These states become the "Zona there Mata" in the coastal region, and the "Sertão - the dry land ".

Parajuru is in the district "Ceará"

On a surface of 145.693 km² there are about 6.500.000 humans living there. Cattle breeding and cultivation of cotton form are the main industries of the district. Beside bananas, coconut palms, beans and corn, its the home of the "Cajú" tree. The, us known as "Cashew Nuts" are an important export article of the region. Ceará was the first Federal State of Brazil, which abolished the here anyway not very pronounced slavery. The population consist of "Morenos" and "Mulatos" (descendant of white and black) and "Caboclos" (descendant of white and Indians).

Wonderful beaches of palms, sanddunes and fresh water lagoons seam those scarcely 560km long coast of Ceará.
