School Project in Parajuru...
Parajuru, ca. 120 km in the south from Fortaleza is a little town with an agriculture structure. The population is about 6000 People, with 2500 children.
There is no possibility for work; the people live from the fishing.
From Fortaleza in the south there is the beginning of tourism projects.
To improve the situation for the children the school project was started in April 2005.
The targets of the programms are following topics:
- English lessons for the children between 7 till 16 years old
- English lesson in the public school
- English lesson for the kids between 16 till 20 years old
- German lesson for the kids between 16 till 20 years old
- computer lessons
- mathematics lesson
- leisure time activity - swimming, dancing, drawing, handy craft etc.
- cooking lunch
There are 10 courses with 10 – 12 children, 5 of them in the morning, the other 5 in the afternoon (105 children now in the school)
The lessons are from:
08:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. o´clock
02:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. o’clock
The courses for the older kids are in the evening between 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. o’clock
The first unit is English lesson (1 hour 20 min.), then break (20 min.), then the leisure time activity
The teachers work about 25 hours per week, there is a lot of English books and stuff for teaching and a PC with internet in the school.
The teacher need beside English knowledge a lot of creativity for the leisure time activity
The project should give the kids in the town from Parajuru a view for the future..
